About Us
At Learn with Alyssa (LWA) we can help your child enter the classroom with confidence. We are here to build a literacy foundation your little one can lean on for years to come. We can make your dreams of your child's nose stuck in a book for hours a reality. LWA wants your child to love learning again and to gain independence with their school work. We know your learner may not be getting what they need in school and you are here so you can prevent them from slipping through the cracks or falling further behind. Reading is a survival skill and we are passionate about helping your child THRIVE.

Meet Alyssa
Alyssa Althouse has over 20 years of experience in education, an active teaching credential, extensive intervention practicum and professional development, numerous teaching, leadership, and advocacy experiences. As a educational therapist, she is Orton-Gillingham, Structured Literacy, and GLAD trained, EBLI informed, and Interactive Metronome Certified.
Alyssa is fervid about the mission of LWA because of her own experiences in education. Even with a degree in Education and training as a Reading Specialist, she started teaching without fully utilizing the Science of Reading (SoR) in her elementary classroom. Knowing what she knows now, she would have served her students differently during those early years, staying true to her roots in early childhood education and the fundamentals of literacy development. She is therefore constantly seeking out new courses and trainings to be able to provide the most current research to her practice. With her Structured Linguistic Literacy approaches, she gets children reading in weeks, not years. When we know better, we can do better!
Alyssa is a champion for children and knows what it feels like and looks like to struggle. She knows the world of education well and is ready to cut through all the red tape to get children what they need and deserve!

Alyssa is passionate about her role as a social entrepreneur. She has seen the phenomenal impacts implementing structured literacy has had on her current students and is excited about helping parents and teachers access the knowledge they need to best serve their learners.
