DO YOU TRAVEL?
Yes. I will travel to your private home or location of your choice anywhere within Marin County. A travel fee may apply. Contact me for scheduling.
ARE DIAGNOSTIC ASSESSMENTS MANDATORY?
Yes! Diagnostic assessments are crucial and mandatory for all new students. Returning clients that have gone more than 2 months without tutoring services with Alyssa, will need diagnostic assessments.
WHAT TUTORING PACKAGES DO YOU OFFER?
Learn with Alyssa provides tutoring year-round, so the calendar is separated into 4 quarters. The Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarter consists of an 11 week tutoring program. Summer is on an as needed basis. You are responsible for ensuring your child attends the recurring sessions on the days and times that you booked, for that entire quarter.
HOW DO I BOOK SESSIONS?
Clients are able to book for the current or upcoming quarter by contacting Alyssa. You can start by filling out this FORM. Alyssa will make every attempt to accommodate your schedule within her current openings. If we don't have any available times that work for you, you have the option to be put on a waitlist or sign up for the following quarter.
WHEN DO THE QUARTERS START AND END?
The 2022/2023 quarter schedule is as follows:
Summer Quarter 2022: In Progress, no openings
Fall Quarter 2022: Sep. 6 - Nov. 18
Winter Quarter 2022/23: Nov. 28 - Dec. 16 & Jan. 3 - Feb 17 & Feb. 27 - March 10.
Spring Quarter 2023: March 13 -April 7 & April 17 - June 2.
IS "WEEKLY BOOKING" AN OPTION?
Typically weekly booking is not an option. This is because our calendar is separated into 4 quarters for a set duration to ensure efficacy and seamless tracking of student progress. The days and times that you book remain yours throughout the entire quarter in which you book. You will also have priority booking to keep your same days/times throughout all quarters. If there are openings mid-quarter, it doesn't hurt to ask and a curated program package may be an option.
HOW DO YOU CHARGE?
You will be charged up front for the entirety of the quarter. Package prices differ depending on the weekly frequency of sessions. A payment plan option is available and broken down into 3 equal, monthly payments. Hourly payment per session is an option, but quarter packages are a better value. Travel fees may apply.
WHAT IF I HAVE TO CANCEL A SESSION?
You can cancel and/or reschedule a session up to 1 hour before your appointment time. You can reschedule to any available appointment within Tutor’s Normal Working Hours within the current Quarter. Tutor may refund or “credit” any sessions that were canceled and unable to be rescheduled. Tutor will, to the best of their ability, reschedule a canceled Session to an available Appointment within the Quarter of the original Session as agreed to by Client.
WHEN SHOULD I EXPECT RESULTS FROM TUTORING?
I am a trained interventionist and my lessons are highly targeted for optimal learning and acceleration. That being said, children learn at different paces and come with different backgrounds and learning differences, so the amount of time it takes to notice results will vary. Children that attend tutoring at least twice a week for the entirety of the quarter (and practice skills outside of tutoring) usually show results of improvement at a quicker rate. It is highly recommended that students attend sessions at least twice a week, focusing on one subject at a time. You have the option to receive tutoring up to 4 times per week.
HOW DO I KNOW IF ONLINE TUTORING IS A GOOD FIT FOR MY CHILD?
Online tutoring, 1:1 with a highly trained tutor, is a very different experience than what children encountered whole class during distance learning. Online tutoring is fun, engaging, tailored to each student's needs, and highly effective. It is the opposite of passive screen time. DO YOU EVER WORK WITH SMALL GROUPS?
Yes, I am open to working with more than one child during a session. It should be a group of students with similar needs that is assembled by the client. It should not exceed 4 students. Contact me for more details.
